Dealing with the unexpected.

My largish cyanotype ‘Golden Curtain Crust’ sold at the Mary Cairncross fungi exhibition. Needless to say, I was quite pleased about this and was happy to see it go off to a new home. But, not everything went well.

Jilly, who had organised the exhibition, kindly offered to deliver it to the new owners work place at Maroochydore. On a rather dismal day she found the building at the address only to be told that the office had moved. Next she found the new office, but not a parking spot – so the work went home to her place.

Eventually the new owners collected the work and took it home. They carefully put it on a bed and shut the door. However, their pup was smarter than they thought – so it opened the door and pulled the work off the bed – and chewed off the corner!

I imagine things got a bit panicky for a while, and the pup was a bit out of favour!

Could I help? Could the framer help? Somehow a good idea evolved – I cyanotyped my name on some Magnami Pescia paper and left it to the framer to sort it out.

They not only have their art work back – but a good story to tell as well. All’s well that ends well.
